Slow Play

by Cliff 10. August 2009 23:18

What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Even the top professionals in the world are not exempt from penalty for slow play.

However, Tiger blames officious course officials for Padraig Harrington triple bogey on the 16 th in the final round of the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational.

There was a great battle going on between Tiger and Paddy, and Harrington was one stroke up. That’s when disaster struck.

Officials advised the pair that they were both being timed for slow play.

Woods thought that Harrington probably would not have hit his fourth shot into a greenside pond if he had not been rushed.     More...

10 Ways NOT to buy fake golf clubs on-line

by Cliff 4. August 2009 03:46

24% of Golf Clubs Sold on EBAY are Fakes (Counterfeits)!

When the ugly word ‘counterfeit’ comes up it quite often prompts the question “Cliff, what about your clubs?   are they copies?”  The answer is a resounding “No!”    Our clubs are parceled under the term ‘clones’ which means similar too but not the same.  And, damn it all … all golf clubs are similar. The brand names we carry are recognized around the world as genuine, stand alone products second only to the major brands. (Though some of our customers think they are better.)

However this illustrates how much damage the counterfeiters are doing to the golf industry.   There is seldom a week goes by without me being offered 'genuine' brand name clubs, direct from the OEM at a quarter of the price. It is not only the name brands which suffer but other legitimate traders like GCDU too!

Thanks to Michael at Aussie Golfer for prompting me to post this blog.  He points readers to MyGolfSpy who recently posted an article offering advice on 'How to avoid buying fake clubs through eBay’.

Counterfeiting is too big for any of us to ignore, the article is really worth reading.

Tiger's Tiresome Tirades (not the right word but the alliteration is nice)

by Cliff 30. July 2009 02:17

What do we require of our heroes ?

Tiger and tantrums seem to go hand in glove at the moment. Surfing around I dropped in on the Tiger Woods role model debate on Devil Ball Golf.

Concensus is that Jack and Arnie never acted like that.     More...

Drivers - Are they too big?

by Cliff 26. July 2009 20:05

Tom Watson thinks so.

After his remarkable Open Championship, only to robbed in a play-off, Tom Watson added his words of wisdom to  the argument that it is equipment, more than the player,  which is achieving the remarkably scores we have come to expect from the golfer of today.    More...

Balls!

by Cliff 28. June 2009 02:08

How would it be. You shoot a 68 off the stick and are then disqualified for using a Callaway Ball.

Sound crazy but that’s what happened to Paul Azinger, crafty 2008 Ryder Cup captain, golf analyst, and former major champion,. in the Travellers Championship played at TPC (Tournament Players Club) River Highlands, in the States

A round of drinks

by Cliff 20. June 2009 02:38

Came across this on CrunchGear.com.  If every golfer had one there'd be less complaints about slow play.

by Doug Aamoth

Drink-dispensing golf clubs aren’t new, per se, but here's one for those of you who haven’t seen it before and are looking for a good way to sneak some booze onto your local golf course.

At $50US, it won’t take too long to pay for itself given the prices for beverages purchased from mobile refreshment carts. Plus, those carts don’t often carry the hard stuff, just beer. This hollowed out fake golf club holds up to 48 ounces of hot or cold liquid and is wide enough at the base to drop in some ice cubes.

A simple pump of the lever and it’ll shoot your consumable of choice into that, um, plastic cup you always carry with you for some reason.
