Flap over Mickelson's 20 year old wedge
It's right there in the U.S. Golf Association manual, just before the rule that regulates thread count in argyle sweater vests, and the one specifying approved colors for oversized tees.
The rule itself reads like the warranty for your new TV, so we'll paraphrase: "Square grooves are not allowed. Well, OK — sometimes."
In answer to your unspoken question, no, a square groove does not describe a middle-aged man with a comb-over and trick knee trying to bust a move upon hearing "YMCA" at the father-daughter dance. Rather, it describes a nontraditional wedge design, in which U-shaped (or "square") grooves are used instead of V-shaped grooves. More... |

“Come Back Tiger, we need you!"
That’s what the Victorian Government is saying and why wouldn’t they? The much criticized $3 million invested to bring Tiger to Melbourne for The Masters has reaped a One Thousand Percent return according to an independent source.
Victoria state tourism minister Tim Holding said the American was welcome back anytime, despite the revelations about his personal life, after his appearance injected A$34 million (US$31 million) into the local economy, almost double the initial forecast. More... |

Tiger Woods is a joke
Unfortunately this Blog was non-accessible for the past week, even to me. This perhaps was a blessing as I’ve not needed to buy into the Tiger debacle.
However, what does concern me is the attitude of some media who are predicting doom and gloom for the PGA Tour and for golf without Mr. Woods. Forbes magazine is saying”Tiger Woods is the face of golf.” More... |

Come in Spinner!
GCDU has frequently warned “Beware of eBay” when it comes to buying golf clubs.
We have heard too many stories of golfers who thought they had done a good deal only to discover later that, at best, they had bought forgeries or, worse still, counterfeit copies of brand name clubs manufactured from inferior materials.
At least one group of fraudsters that used eBay has come to grief, dobbed in by a pensioner who had purchased a couple of what they thought were Acushnet clubs, except when they arrived they were not up to quality.
Their complaint to authorities started an investigation into, what is now believed to be, the largest fraud perpetrated on eBay to date. More... |

Surfing around and came upon this article which makes a lot of sense; we can all learn. I thought it worth sharing. I hope you enjoy it!

Tiger Woods is obviously the most dominate golfer in today’s world. It is easy to make an argument placing him as the best golfer to ever play the game. Tiger Woods practiced and played golf all of the time. Fortunately for him, his efforts have really paid off. More...

How would it be. You shoot a 68 off the stick and are then disqualified for using a Callaway Ball.
Sound crazy but that’s what happened to Paul Azinger, crafty 2008 Ryder Cup captain, golf analyst, and former major champion,. in the Travellers Championship played at TPC (Tournament Players Club) River Highlands, in the States

Tiger can't blame this one on the rain.
The world's top golfer was spanked Thursday by NBC funnyman Jimmy Fallon at Woods' own Wii game.
Woods, fresh off of a disappointing performance at the U.S. Open, was so embarrassed by the shellacking he quit before finishing the third and final hole. More...

Geoff Ogilvy wins Telus World Skins Game, pockets $150,000
By THE CANADIAN PRESS
Geoff Ogilvy hit the jackpot on the 14th hole en route to winning the Telus World Skins Game on Tuesday.
Ogilvy pocketed C$150,000 of the $360,000 purse, while American Fred Couples finished second with four skins for $65,000.
Mike Weir of Bright's Grove, Ont., and England's Ian Poulter each walked away with two skins for $50,000 each and Spain's Sergio Garcia had three skins for $45,000.
The 18-hole event was packed into one day because of the rain delays that forced the final round of the U.S. Open to be played Monday.

Came across this today, thought it was priceless and just had to share it.

You'd never know Lucas Glover is a champ by the way he acts.

Two Down O'Connor, World's Most Avid Golf Gambler, was watching replays of Lucas Glover winning the U.S. Open and was severely disgruntled.
"Look at this!" Two Down said as he pointed at Glover, who was politely accepting the trophy on the 18th green at Bethpage Black. "I mean look how boring he is! He looks like he was just named Proctology Patient of the Year." More...

Letting your temper take you over, I saw, was a mistake.
When you give in to anger, you lose control. A man who stays cool mad will beat you every time. In golf, the trick of developing just the right mixture of heat and coolness in competition was one of the most difficult I had to learn. The game turns lots of pros and everyday players into club-throwing maniacs. There's hardly a locker-room door left in the country without dents in it, and the number of clubs thrown or smashed gets bigger all the time. The number of first-rate amateurs and promising young pros who've let their dander rise up and ruin their game is more than you can count. On the face of it, the calm, quiet player should have all the advantage.
