How to Hit the Ball Well from Uneven Lies
by Bobby Eldridge - Head Professional PurePoint Golf
I know some of you are laughing under your breath wondering what I am doing writing a tip on UNEVEN LIES. What in the world could I possible know about uneven lies living in Scottsdale, Arizona? Well, it is the Grand Canyon State for starters, but yes you're right, we do not face as many uneven lies as someone from North Carolina, for example. However, there are plenty of times during the course of a round when we are faced with a golf ball that might be on a side hill lie. More...

Received an email from Craig Sigl of Break 80 this morning and it got me thinking.
How many of us can think outside the established box of thought with which we normally surround ourselves...on and off the golf course?
We've all heard the advice "Think outside the box!" What does it mean? Above anything it means don't let your thinking be contained, or restricted by your environment. Sam Snead's golf sand instruction:
Instruction on the cardinal rules of sand trap play (explosion-type) are as follows:
- Settle your feet firmly, digging in, so that nothing can shift under you during the swing; also, since it's against the rules of golf to ground your club in a trap, this will enable you to test the depth and consistency of the sand.
- Play the ball off the left heel from a well-open stance and with the clubface laid back as open as possible for quick loft.
- Let the arms and hands do the work, with little leg action; the swing is straightforward from an upright position, with plenty of wrist snap at impact.
- Be sure the golf club head goes down and forward and emerges with a full follow-through. If your left palm is facing downward at the finish, you've kept the club head open and followed through with good form. More...
