Huge eBay fraud

by Cliff 25. September 2009 03:41

Come in Spinner!

GCDU has frequently warned “Beware of eBay” when it comes to buying golf clubs.

We have heard too many stories of golfers who thought they had done a good deal only to discover later that, at best, they had bought forgeries or, worse still, counterfeit copies of brand name clubs manufactured from inferior materials.

At least one group of fraudsters that used eBay has come to grief, dobbed in by a pensioner who had purchased a couple of  what they thought were Acushnet clubs, except when they arrived they were not up to quality.

Their complaint to authorities started an investigation into, what is now believed to be, the largest fraud perpetrated on eBay to date.     More...

National booking system.

by Cliff 12. August 2009 02:10

Getting a Game Gets a lot Easier

Golf Australia and iseekgolf.com have rolled out what is to be Australia’s truely national real time golf booking system, which will enable social golfers to book a round online at golf courses anywhere in Australia

Under the partnership iseekgolf.com will provide the technology and management services, while Golf Australia will encourage golf courses, right through out Australia to become involved and to come on-line.

It will take a while to come to fruition but the potential for the average golfer is enormous. No chasing around on the telephone looking for a course; no turning up at a course only to be told 'No times available.'      More...

Global Ambassador Annika Sorenstam and 2010 European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie will join representatives of the International Golf Federation when golf's final case for inclusion in the 2016 Olympic Games will be made to the International Olympic Committee Executive Board on Monday in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Golf last was part of the Olympic Games in 1904, when the United States and Canada were the only competing nations and is one of seven sports being considered for inclusion starting with the 2016 Games. John Daly fails to get into US Open

by Cliff 10. June 2009 00:47

Daly managed only four birdies over 36 holes in a U.S. Open qualifier on Monday and didn't come close to getting one of the 13 spots available in Tennessee. He had a 1-under 70 in the morning at Ridgewood and a 2-over 73 in the afternoon at Germantown.

The PGA Tour has lifted its six-month suspension of Daly, who will tee it up Thursday at the St. Jude Classic. He won't be going to the U.S. Open, but he said the 36-hole qualifier helped him make the transition from playing in Europe.
