Perhaps we do need Tiger

by Cliff 6. January 2010 03:23

“Come Back Tiger,
   we need you!"

That’s what the Victorian Government is saying and why wouldn’t they? The much criticized $3 million invested to bring Tiger to Melbourne for The Masters has reaped a One Thousand Percent return according to an independent source.

Victoria state tourism minister Tim Holding said the American was welcome back anytime, despite the revelations about his personal life, after his appearance injected A$34 million (US$31 million) into the local economy, almost double the initial forecast.    More...

Singh returns

by Cliff 28. August 2009 20:41
Vijay is coming down under

The good news is we will see Vijay Singh down under later this year when he joins Geoff Ogilvy  playing in Australia’s oldest professional event, the Australian PGA Championship at Coolum,  Dec. 10-13 .

The former world number one and current  number 13, World Golf Hall of Fame inductee Singh has not played in Australia since the 1998 Presidents Cup when he helped the International team beat the United States at Royal Melbourne.

"Vijay is a world class player and will be a major drawcard for Australian fans who have not had the opportunity to see him play here before,” said Max Garske, CEO of the PGA of Australia.

“It’s been a long time since I played in Australia and I am so excited to have been asked to play the Australian PGA Championship,” said Singh. “I have always intended to return to Australian shores and when I got the offer to play, I jumped at the chance.”

Vijay won the U.S. Masters in 2000 and the U.S. PGA Championship in 1998 and 2004 and has a mass of USPGA and International wins to his credit

The PAR 73, Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed, Hyatt Regency resort course has six newly designed holes this year due to part of the old course on the beach side of the highway being commercialised.

Greg Norman to design 27 holes in the Yarra Valley

The demand for urban land has impacted on metropolitan golf clubs everywhere and it was a very emotional decision, 12 months ago, for The Eastern Golf Club to accept the developer’s money and plan to move some 15 kilometres further out to Wonga Park in the Yarra Valley.    More...

Tiger's Tiresome Tirades (not the right word but the alliteration is nice)

by Cliff 30. July 2009 02:17

What do we require of our heroes ?

Tiger and tantrums seem to go hand in glove at the moment. Surfing around I dropped in on the Tiger Woods role model debate on Devil Ball Golf.

Concensus is that Jack and Arnie never acted like that.     More...

Excitement never lacking at Turnberry

TURNBERRY, Scotland -- The youngest and least-used venue in the current Open Championship rotation might also be the most scenic.

The Ailsa course at the Turnberry Resort located along the west coast of Scotland is in a remote area about 90 minutes south of Glasgow but has terrific views of the sea.

Mary Mickelson, Phil's Mom, Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

A rough month for Phil Mickelson and his family just got a lot tougher when news hit that Phil's mother, Mary Mickelson, has been diagnosed with breast cancer less than seven weeks after Amy Mickelson, Phil's wife, was told she had the same disease.
Tina Mickelson, Phil's sister, said on Monday that Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer a week ago and will go in for surgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the same hospital Amy was being treated at last Wednesday     More...

Be Exceptional – Learn From Tiger Woods’ Quotes

by Cliff 29. June 2009 03:54
Surfing around and came upon this article which makes a lot of sense; we can all learn. I thought it worth sharing.  I hope you enjoy it!

Tiger Woods is obviously the most dominate golfer in today’s world.  It is easy to make an argument placing him as the best golfer to ever play the game. Tiger Woods practiced and played golf all of the time.  Fortunately for him, his efforts have really paid off.    More...
