John Daly fails to get into US Open

by Cliff 10. June 2009 00:47

Daly managed only four birdies over 36 holes in a U.S. Open qualifier on Monday and didn't come close to getting one of the 13 spots available in Tennessee. He had a 1-under 70 in the morning at Ridgewood and a 2-over 73 in the afternoon at Germantown.

The PGA Tour has lifted its six-month suspension of Daly, who will tee it up Thursday at the St. Jude Classic. He won't be going to the U.S. Open, but he said the 36-hole qualifier helped him make the transition from playing in Europe.
