Tiger's Tiresome Tirades (not the right word but the alliteration is nice)

What do we require of our heroes ?

Tiger and tantrums seem to go hand in glove at the moment. Surfing around I dropped in on the Tiger Woods role model debate on Devil Ball Golf.

Concensus is that Jack and Arnie never acted like that.

Here’s a few pars from the debate;

‘So you're OK with the tantrums, the profanities, throwing clubs, et al?
Whether you like it or not; whether you understand it or not, Tiger Woods IS a role model to millions of children, who are looking to take up the game of golf. So when they begin doing the same thing(s) on a golf course, when their parents and/or teachers scold them for doing such things, their response will be "if Tiger does it, so can I." ‘

'Since it's OK for Tiger to slam his clubs into the ground, which obviously impacts the integrity of the ground, is it OK for me to not bother fixing my pitch marks and divots? It's the same thing, only mine aren't made out of anger... and I fix my marks. Yes, that's sarcasm (mostly, I do fix my marks), but it's still true- if he can scar the playing grounds out of anger and get away with it, why are the lazy people (who don't fix their divots) looked down on?'

‘For the record- no, I don't care who you are, or how much money you play for, there is absolutely NO reason to throw and/or slam clubs. That's not being "competitive", that's being a jack@ss. Three year olds, not 33 year olds, do that.’

‘Tiger's tantrums degrade the concept and traditions of golf. Granted the Bobby Jones days are gone forever, but that doesn't mean players should make fools of themselves and cheapen the game. Tiger can't impart his swing to a young kid, but he can teach them to say f--- when things go wrong.’

I'm not adding anything to the debate but on another Tiger note; swing coach Hank Haney worked with him last week in Florida, then offered a self-deprecating assessment as he headed to the airport.

"He's doing really good," Haney said. "He had a bad tournament, and I'm getting fired."

Haney has worked with Woods for more than five years and knows what kind of scrutiny to expect. He was on the range at Augusta National when Woods vented about how poorly he was hitting the ball, and sparked speculation that Haney would be shown the door.

Who will be the next and will that bring another swing change?
