Prophet CNC Forged Iron
YES… An Advanced CNC Milled Forged Carbon Steel Iron CAN Be Affordable
You asked for it, Dynacraft listened, and then made it! Traditionalists often covet the soft feel upon impact that a forged carbon steel iron produces. Dynacraft went one step further by harmoniously fusing modern game improvement features into the design – bringing the best of both worlds to produce the Dynacraft Prophet CNC iron.
Each club head starts as a solid tubular billet of soft carbon steel. To produce the fimished head it goes through a 5 step process.
The billet is heated white hot then, using a huge mechanical press exerting several tons of force, it is forged into shape. Through each successive step, the metamorphosis evolves and the rough forging begins to look more and more like a finished iron.
The next step is to weld the hosel on to the head.
The heads are placed securely face down in a special fixture to hold them in place underneath a CNC machine which removes excess material in an exact manner as programmed by computer.
With CNC milling almost any cavity shape can be cut;. any cavity shape that can be made through investment casting, even an undercut channel that traditional forging techniques are incapable of achieving. Depending upon the complexity of the cavity, the milling machine may take 10 to 20 minutes to route out a single cavity.
This time consuming process requires the CNC shop to be equipped with 10 or more milling machines and to be running multiple shifts, often around the clock.
The hosel is turned down with a lathe to ensure consistent diameter and finally the hosel drilled to accept a shaft.
Now it's the turn of the craftsman as the next steps involve many hand operations; faces are stamped or machined flat, stampings pressed in and the club head weight is reduced by grinding and sanding. Special care needs to be taken to make certain the radius of the sole and the general shape is replicated from one club to the next. It takes skilled tradesmen to undertake the hand operations to achieve the high production standards required
Afterwards, the heads go through additional polishing steps to ensure a smooth surface for the satin chrome electroplate finish to prevent rusting and provide long lasting beauty. The metallic emblem is added and lastly paint filled to finish the Prophet CNC irons ready to be delivery to customers around the world.
